New project in Devon

We have been asked to come up with a themed sculpture trail to liven up the grounds of a charity in Devon, so we are busy planning. There is a site that needs a tall eyecatcher and Anthony's silver tower, presently in his garden, is a candidate. The charity is keen on the idea of 3D murals and this is part of a forty feet wide one in Anthony's garden, a collaborative work of Paul, Rachel and Anthony. There is the possibility of using old farm machinery and Fiona's ace skills at welding will come into play.

Casespace, Bruton Museum

One of the Scraptors - Fiona Campbell - is having an Exhibition of her smaller sculptures and drawings at 'Precious and Primal', Casespace, Bruton Museum from 1 - 29th February.  The work incorporates recycled materials, mainly in steel, copper and wire.  Some of the drawings on show relate to our next planned Scraptors' event at the Magdalen project, for which we're about to launch our IndieGoGo fund-raising bid (Feb-March).

Donation of paints

Ridgeways, Shepton Mallet has very kindly donated a truck load of old or recycled usable car paint to Fiona for our sculptures. Much appreciated, as we plan to create a series of colourful pieces for our next Trail at the Magdalen Project.

Sustainability Show Taunton and Scraptor Stand

Our Scraptors stand at the Sustainability Show, Taunton today went well. The show organised by What's On in Somerset was busy from the moment it opened. Our assembled works attracted plenty of attention and exciting new possibilities. Two of the exhibitors expressed strong interest in having a Scraptor sculpture trail on their land  and a friend of Fiona offered a barnful of old machinery for sculptural purposes. Ed's Sheds - Treasure Trove of Trash

Following an article in the press about us seeking scrap for our Sculpture Trail, Paul and Fiona went to collect some goodies from a house clearance.  A lady - Karen - had called up saying an elderly man (Ed's) house needed clearing by the end of the week - did we want some stuff for our sculptures.  Not expecting too much we went over today.  There were literally shed loads of beautiful rusty old tools of all shapes and sizes spread amongst various run down sheds which Ed had obviously adored. From chimney brushes to numerous claw-like spanners and pliers, we had a great time selecting bits to use in new pieces for the Trail!  Thank you Ed and Karen!
