Spring at Magdalen

Anthony went the Magdalen Project on the Somerset/Dorset border to do some measuring up for the Open Day on April 29th when the Scraptors will have a stall about the projected Scraptorzoic Era sculpture trail planned for the farm. Recent additions by Magdalen are these flowerpot old toilets in the spirit of sustainability and these lambs.

A giant waterbird for Magdalen

This is Anthony's giant Waterbird on his lawn. We we plan to float it on on one of the large ponds at the Magdalen Project in the summer when we plan to create the Scraptorzoic Era on its farm. Nearby will be a nest with weird chicks hatching out of eggs in a nest.. The five feet high neck is piping retrieved from outside a house in south London where a cannabis factory had been closed down. We are not called the Scraptors for nothing.

Trail to be installed in the summer of 2012 at Magdalen Project Dorset

The Scraptors are to install a sculpture trail  in the summer of 2012 at the Magdalen Project near Chard on the Dorset /Somerset border. The Project is an environmental educational centre set in a 132 acre organic farm offering courses to adults and children, encouraging a deeper understanding of the countryside and encouraging a more sustainable approach to life. The site is a sculptor's dream with little wooded ravines and a series of ponds. We plan to have floating sculptures.. We will transform old machines and bits and pieces round the place into sculptures. The wheelbarrow below cries out to become a bird with the help of a grinder

Scraptors install more works in Stourhead Sculpture Trail

The Scraptors got very wet and muddy installing Herons in one of the ponds at Six Wells on the National Trust property of Stourhead for the sculpture trail to be in place throughout September. Above is Anthony's Egret meets a creature from the Deep.  Fiona's large scrap steel Heron was a bigger job to install and a great relief when it was in - see images below of both Herons being installed. 

Below is Anthony's Giant Barn Owl Flying and Fiona's Copper Owl in a large dead tree. Paul is going to paint the whole tree to resemble an owl and it reflects the Ancient Greek veneration of owls as symbols of Wisdom. Other owl sculptures  have been placed in the tree by Paul and Rachel. One of the themes of the trail is the classical mythology represented in the artworks in the house and garden of Stourhead. .
