The Bird Henge advances

The petrol drums, last used as horse jumps,  have become idols which will be the centre piece of Bird Henge which will have Wiltshire birds and a procession of priests in procession. Work in progress. The idols will have wings. Far below are innards of cars that will be used.

Car innards into Birds for Bird Henge

Anthony went to Langfords. Car Spares near Shaftesbury to find bits for our Bird Henge which we are now starting on as spring is here. It will be by a public footpath in the Wylye Valley in Wiltshire. Above are some of the finds. Wheel arches make perfect wings Below  are the monsters Anthony made back in 2005 with bits and pieces from the old cars. They rest on the fence of Langfords.

Big Headed Fish Discovered in Wiltshire Wood

Serendipity. A new Bigheaded Fish has been discovered in Idaho and Anthony discovered this in a Wiltshire wood - well actually a fungus brought down with a tree in a gale.

We normally manage to work outside now and then in winter on our projects but the more or less incessant rain has made it impossible. However Anthony went to the Wiltshire Archive yesterday to research for  our sculpture project as part of the exhibits to commemorate World War 1 at Stourhead, the National Trust estate. He also researched for the online ramblers' trail, the Bird Henge Trail,  that will be created when we have built our Bird Henge near Stonehenge. We hope to start on that in March, weather willing.

Car Henge

Anthony met Romy Wyeth, Stonehenge guide at the local Potato Day when the neighbourhood stocks up for spring planting. She has sent us some images of Car Henge in Nebraska which we share with you here.. Our Bird Henge is on hold waiting for better weather. We can work outside in cold clear weather but not in incessant howling gales and heavy rain.

New giant added to Scraptors sculpturemad garden

Anthony has added a new Silver Giant to the view from his bedroom window. Its tubular body is made from piping used by a cannabis factory closed down in south London by a police raid. The piping was dumped outside. The hedge is holding up the Giant.
