Car Henge

 Anthony met Romy Wyeth, Stonehenge guide at the local Potato Day when the neighbourhood stocks up for spring planting. She has sent us some images of Car Henge in Nebraska which we share with you here.. Our Bird Henge is on hold waiting for better weather. We can work outside in cold clear weather but not in incessant howling gales and heavy rain.

New giant added to Scraptors sculpturemad garden

 Anthony has added a new Silver Giant to the view from his bedroom window. Its tubular body is made from piping used by a cannabis factory closed down in south London by a police raid. The piping was dumped outside. The hedge is holding up the Giant.

Controlled multi media event at Bascule Bridge Bristol

Scraptor Paul is busy with Klumpox setting up a multimedia show in the Control Tower of the bascule bridge in Redcliffe Way Bristol BS! 6HU. On February 28th at 7.30 p.m there will be a special showing with extra elements. The show lasts for a fortnight.

Tyres for our totem pole

 We have started gathering old tyres for our planned totem pole to go behind our Bird Henge and likewise on free public view from a public footpath. These were found by a track illegally dumped.

Wacky stuff we like - Sway Tower

 
We feel an affinity with anything wacky. Sway Tower was built by a retired judge between 1879 and 1885 in Sway in the New Forest. Andrew Peterson had been told to do so after a séance with the late Sir Christopher Wren. It is 218 feet high. He first built a prototype a mere 50 feet high. The Tower is the world's highest structure made entirely of non reinforced concrete.

Stourhead plans

    
We went to Stourhead, the National Trust gardens in Wiltshire, to discuss possible Scraptor installations as  part of the Trust's  presentation from 2014 of how the First World War affected the estate and the community. There will be exhibits in the house about Harry Hoare, the heir to the property. The intended Scraptors contribution  would be eye-catching outside installations  illustrating aspects life before the War and how it changed for all in the community.  There was for example Ebenezer Stone, a groom in the stables, who lost both legs in the war. One of the planned installations will be about him. Like everything this project requires funding and sorting that is the next stage.
    The image above shows an officer of  the Dorset Yeomanry by the Pyramids.  Harry was killed with that regiment in the Middle East.
